A peanut is a kit that gets two copies of the dwarfing gene, which makes the kit very small and underdeveloped. Peanuts usually only live a couple days, then fade away. A peanut has very small ears, and a head that is more bulbous than its non-peanut siblings. They also are kind of shaped like a peanut, hence the name.
Wire cages are by no means bad, it is one of many ways to raise rabbits. While solid bottomed cages work for some, I choose to use wire cages because it keeps the rabbit off its own urine/feces. You can provide a resting mat if you would like a place for the rabbit to get off the wire. Holland Lops have very thick fur on their feet, so sore hocks are generally not a problem.
